Essequibo Islands-West Demerara Vacation Packages

The house we were supposed to stay in got cancelled after we landed in Guyana, and the owner let us stay here on short notice and basically saved our vacation! The house is in a convenient location between Cheddi Jagan and Georgetown. The beds are comfortable, AC gets really cold, ceiling fan in the sitting room and stand fan in the bedroom.

Hotel is beautiful! Personally, I liked the location. I felt safe and it was quiet, and when the shops right outside the hotel are finished being built, it will be perfect. The pool area is gorgeous, I just wished they played a bit more local music. I did find issue with the timing - you'd get a time of when the pool bar/restaurant would open, but it wouldn't be accurate. Most staff was nice, but I encountered one grumpy staff member cleaning the gym (which is also nice), who got a little annoyed with me because I wasn't sure how to exit the gym door after going in to use the bathroom. I figured it out before he got to me, but he was grumbling, when all he had to do was tell me to swipe my card. Another issue I had was that one day I bought food from outside and sat down on a table in the lobby area, in the back, close to the bar. I was told by the person working in the bar that I couldn't eat there. She was nice about it and I understood that she was just doing her job, but that's ridiculous! Guests cannot eat in the lobby? Lol. I have been to about 50/60 hotels in my life and I have never been told something so ridiculous. Wait until the coffee shop opens across the road - tell people they can't eat in the lobby then lol. I think management needs some lessons in hospitality. If the hotel wants to strictly be a business hotel, then put up a disclaimer that the hotel does not serve for personal vacations, but guess what? Business men eat too, ha! I'd stay again.

I will not recommend staying at Grand Coastal. The Deluxe Queen Room was very small and dated. The carpet is very dark, we were unable to tell if it was clean. The bathroom is very dated, everything is old and yucky. The towels provided were so small, I could barely wrap it around my 5 feet 109 lbs body. The hotel is on a main busy highway, the noise level is very high. It was impossible to get any sleep at all. In a nutshell myself and my husband did not have a good experience and would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Stayed two weeks. Apartment was clean and quiet upon arrival. Amenities were present as stated. Safe/secure location. Host/owner was friendly. Unit is up spiral metal stairs as well as both bedrooms within unit are upstairs, while both bathrooms are downstairs. This is not a useful floor plan layout and should be explicitly communicated on the posting. I traveled with a person whom struggled with stairs and they were forced to sleep on the futon couch/bed downstairs. Stove gas tank ran out quickly and tank was replaced quickly. One of three A/C units did not work the entire stay. Once upstairs first bedroom is open and one must walk through to entire second room; another layout flaw. Overall, I possibly would not stay here again do to the layout of the unit provided.
